The time when the laptop was first introduced, the whole world gasped in amazement because finally, technology has brought them a computer that would solve all their spatial and accessibility concerns. People felt that they've got everything that they needed and wouldn't even find something that could top this kind of portable computer. For several years, the laptop, portable computer has dominated the world of computer technology, until a series of more compact and portable computers was released to the world market. To their shock and awe, a lot of people realized that there could really be something more efficient and user-friendly than a regular laptop. The mini netbook was transformed from a newbie to a world-wide computer sensation.

The mini netbook is similar to a laptop but is greatly smaller in size; the units are also made more portable and easy to carry around. Aside from these features and advantages, the mini laptop has a longer battery life because it was designed for longer hours of use compared to a standard laptop; which means, one can use his or her netbook for almost an entire day depending on how the netbook is being used.

The target market for the mini netbook consists of people who are always on the move, like professionals who commute to work, people who always travel and even students who need to do a lot of research. And since the mini netbook is compact, it's easy to bring because it doesn't strain the shoulders and arms. Because of its size, the mini netbook is easy to store for safekeeping, it can fit inside a small pouch, purse or backpack unnoticeable.

The specifications of the mini netbook is not as complicated as the laptop or the traditional desk top computer. It can handle basic computer functions and applications like surfing the internet and creating as well as editing documents and other files. It can also support video and music files though memory might be a concern.

This is also one of the most affordable type of compact computers because the parts are not that expensive as well. This is a big reason why most people now opt to have a mini netbook compared to a laptop.

Still, there are some features that this compact computer badly need; example would be large memory capacity. The mini netbook doesn't have a CD or a DVD drive, and cannot store large amounts of files as well.

However, the utilization of this type of computer is still dependent on how the owners view the computer's highs and lows. Users on the other hand, should embrace the fact that the mini netbook can do the jobs that it has promised to do, and that is to make computers accessible, user friendly and affordable to a lot of people.
